a16z: The issuance of over 13 million meme coins in 2025 indicates a regulatory vacuum in the crypto sector, highlighting the urgent need for market structure legislation
According to ChainCatcher, Bloomberg reported that Andreessen Horowitz's digital asset venture capital fund a16z crypto pointed out in its "2025 State of Crypto Report" released on Wednesday that the issuance of more than 13 million memecoins in 2025 indicates a regulatory vacuum in the crypto sector, highlighting the urgent need for the United States to pass market structure legislation.
a16z crypto emphasized that the enactment of regulatory laws would provide a clearer framework for crypto builders and investors. The passage of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, currently under review in Congress, would protect consumers by adding safeguards, enable oversight of blockchain-based intermediaries, and create a more explicit regulatory path for digital commodities.
