Custodia Bank Seeks En Banc Rehearing in Fed Master Account Battle After Tenth Circuit Ruling
As reported by CoinDesk on December 16, Custodia Bank has filed an en banc rehearing petition with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, continuing its bid to secure a Federal Reserve master account and access to the central bank’s payments infrastructure.
In a November ruling, the Tenth Circuit panel sided with the Federal Reserve by a 2-1 vote, denying Custodia’s request to open a master account.
The renewed petition signals ongoing strategic maneuvering as Custodia seeks to expand fintech access to Fed rails, while regulators weigh the implications for liquidity, settlement speed, and risk governance within the central banking system.
