U.S. crypto market legislation delayed until 2026, Senate Banking Committee unable to complete review this year
According to ChainCatcher, citing Cointelegraph, the U.S. Senate Banking Committee has confirmed that it will not be able to complete the markup process for crypto market structure legislation in 2025, and the related hearings will be postponed until early 2026.
As the final legislative week of 2025 approaches, members of both the House and Senate will begin returning home for vacation starting this Wednesday, forcing the legislative process to be interrupted. It is reported that over the past two months, the committee has been working on drafting a bipartisan consensus version of the bill, but it is still uncertain whether the latest draft will be released before the recess. At the same time, the Senate Agriculture Committee has also not scheduled a review date for its related text, further delaying the Senate leadership's original plan to complete the legislative process within the year. This delay will force the crypto industry to continue operating under regulatory uncertainty for at least several more months.
