Ripple, the blockchain firm responsible for the

token, has confirmed it will not pursue an initial public offering (IPO), even after achieving a $40 billion valuation in its latest $500 million funding round led by Fortress Investment Group and other major institutional backers, according to . At the Swell conference in New York, President Monica Long highlighted that Ripple’s strong financial standing enables it to invest in growth, acquisitions, and new partnerships without the need to enter public markets. This approach sets Ripple apart from other crypto companies such as Circle and Kraken, which are moving toward public listings as regulatory conditions improve.

Ripple’s approach centers on rapid growth through targeted acquisitions. Over the last two years, the company has allocated around $4 billion to deals aimed at building a comprehensive institutional crypto-finance platform,

reports. Notable acquisitions include Hidden Road (acquired and rebranded as Ripple Prime for $1.25 billion), GTreasury (a treasury management solution purchased for $1 billion), and Rail (a stablecoin payment network bought for $200 million). The most recent addition, Palisade, a provider of digital asset custody and wallet services, further enhances Ripple’s infrastructure for secure, multi-chain asset management for businesses and fintechs.

The recent funding round, which set Ripple’s valuation at $40 billion, was fueled by robust institutional interest rather than a necessity for new capital, according to

. Investors such as Pantera Capital and Citadel Securities expressed their trust in Ripple’s long-term strategy to bridge blockchain technology with traditional financial systems. CEO Brad Garlinghouse called the investment “the cherry on top of a mountain of good news,” pointing to milestones like the RLUSD stablecoin exceeding $1 billion in circulation.

Ripple’s evolution from a payments company to a provider of institutional financial services is highlighted by its regulatory achievements. As

notes, Ripple now possesses more than 75 licenses worldwide and has formed partnerships with organizations such as BNY Mellon, which safeguards RLUSD reserves. These acquisitions have enabled Ripple to compete with established Wall Street firms in areas like prime brokerage and treasury management, while its stablecoin network facilitates instant cross-border payments and institutional trading.

Although Ripple has opted out of going public, other crypto companies are still seeking entry to public markets. Kraken is targeting a 2026 IPO after raising $500 million, and Grayscale, BitGo, and Bullish have all submitted filings to the SEC. Long, however, remains committed to private growth, stating that Ripple’s current path allows it to “build a unified institutional financial stack powered by the XRP Ledger” without the pressures of public market scrutiny.

Looking forward, Ripple intends to further integrate RLUSD, broaden its corporate treasury offerings, and use its acquisition-driven infrastructure to challenge conventional financial institutions. With a $40 billion valuation and $4 billion spent on acquisitions, Ripple is reshaping its position in the global financial landscape, focusing on institutional adoption rather than public market speculation.
