Jinse Finance reported that an accountant at a Catholic church in South Korea embezzled hundreds of millions of Korean won in donations to invest in cryptocurrency, and confessed his crime to the priest. Police have launched an investigation. On the 24th, the Mokpo Police Station in Jeollanam-do stated that they had applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, who is in his 60s, on suspicion of occupational embezzlement. Mr. A is suspected of repeatedly misappropriating a total of about 480 million Korean won in donations from July last year to last month. As the person in charge of financial management, Mr. A pretended to settle the fundraising money for church construction normally, but actually transferred the funds to accounts belonging to his acquaintances. According to the investigation, Mr. A invested these funds in cryptocurrency and ended up losing all of it.
