Microsoft announced on Saturday that users of its Azure cloud service may experience slower performance after several undersea cables in the Red Sea were severed, according to a report from Bloomberg.

The company stated in a status update that network traffic routed through the Middle East, or destined for Asia or Europe, was impacted. The update did not specify who was responsible for the cable cuts or the reason behind them.

“Repairing undersea fiber breaks can be a lengthy process, so we will keep assessing the situation, adjusting, and improving routing to limit disruption for our customers in the interim,” the company noted in its update.

By Saturday night, Microsoft reported that no further issues had been identified with Azure.
