The U.S. Treasury Secretary will begin a series of interviews with candidates for Federal Reserve Chair on Friday.
Jinse Finance reported, citing sources from The Wall Street Journal, that U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent plans to conduct a series of intensive interviews with Federal Reserve chair candidates starting Friday. According to sources, the interview process will continue into next week, with Bessent meeting candidates either in person or via video conference. According to Bessent and his advisors, there are currently 11 shortlisted candidates, including Federal Reserve Governors Waller and Bowman, National Economic Council Director Hassett, and former Federal Reserve Governor Walsh. After the interviews, Bessent will submit the final list of recommended candidates to Trump. Bessent previously stated that he would begin the selection process for the next Federal Reserve chair shortly after Labor Day.
