Analyst: Powell’s Speech May Focus on Labor Market and Policy Trajectory
According to a report by Jinse Finance, Mabrouk Chetouane, Global Market Strategy Director at Amundi Asset Management, stated that Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell’s speech at the Jackson Hole Symposium may focus on the labor market and its impact on monetary policy. This year’s symposium theme is “Structural Shifts in the Labor Market: Demographics, Productivity, and Macroeconomic Policy.” He pointed out that the main focus of the meeting will be Powell’s remarks on the roadmap for U.S. monetary policy for the remainder of the year. Although inflationary pressures have rebounded, Powell may need to explain why the policy focus has shifted toward employment targets, placing inflation as a secondary concern.
