On August 14, it was reported that Canadian Bitcoin mining company Bitfarms has signed agreements to purchase 3 acres of land in Washington State, USA, for $1.9 million and 181 acres of land in Pennsylvania for $3.5 million, both intended for potential high-performance computing (HPC) development. Meanwhile, the company has decided to shut down its Bitcoin mining facility in Argentina due to power supply interruptions since May 12, caused by the debt restructuring of its energy supplier, Generacion Mediterranea S.A. (GMSA). Bitfarms has reached an agreement with GMSA to recover its $3.5 million energy deposit in installments over 18 months starting January 2026, and to cancel $2.8 million in asset retirement obligations related to leased land in the country.
