Japan will hold Senate election on the 20th
on July 20th local time, Japan will hold a parliamentary election for the House of Councillors. Except for some areas, voting will take place from 7:00 to 20:00 local time. The House of Councillors in Japan has a total of 248 seats. Senators serve a term of 6 years, with half of the seats up for election every three years. This election will focus on the 124 seats up for election and the 1 seat in the Tokyo electoral district, for a total of 125 seats up for grabs. The ruling Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito Party have a total of 75 non-election senators. In order for the ruling party to secure a majority in the House of Councillors, they need to win at least 50 seats in this election.
