The Stablecoin Market Is a Key Battleground

The timing of a new batch of RLUSD issuance aligns with the rising demand and revenues across the stablecoin sector. The latter, with a $252 billion market value, marked a twentyfold increase over the past five years, according to Defillama’s data .

Regarding revenue, Tether and Circle, the issuers of USDT and USDC , remain dominant players. In the past 30 days alone, they earned hundreds of millions mainly from interest on U.S. Treasuries backing their stablecoins.

Over the past 30 days, 55 crypto protocols made at least $1m in revenue.

This profitability is no longer limited to centralized players. DeFi protocols are also capitalizing on the stablecoin-driven boom.

Platforms like Hyperliquid and PancakeSwap have generated tens of millions in fees as users increasingly rely on stablecoins for trading, staking, and borrowing.

As a result, stablecoins have evolved from utility tokens into powerful revenue engines for both centralized and decentralized platforms.

Why This Matters

Ripple’s RLUSD is still in early stages, but if it leverages similar strategies as Tether or Circle, it could become a lucrative asset in Ripple’s ecosystem.
