Nethermind Proposes Blob Sharing Protocol Based on EIP-7702 to Optimize Data Filling Efficiency for BasedRollups
Show original
Anshu Jalan and Lin Oshitani from Nethermind have proposed a Blob Sharing Protocol based on EIP-7702, aiming to address the issue of low blob utilization rates in Based Rollups (such as Taiko, with fill rates of only 7%-55%). Compared to rollup solutions that use centralized sequencers—which can delay publication to batch transactions and efficiently fill data blocks—Based Rollups face efficiency bottlenecks due to their inability to delay publication. The Blob Sharing Protocol enables L1 proposers to aggregate data from multiple rollups, optimizing blob usage efficiency, significantly reducing costs, and supporting a diverse rollup ecosystem.
