Federal Reserve Harker: The policy interest rate should remain unchanged until the situation becomes clearer
The President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, Harker, stated on Thursday that tariffs or trade wars could lead to inflation, and a decline in labor force could also cause inflation. However, as many things depend on the actual policy details of the Trump administration, the Federal Reserve should currently keep interest rates unchanged. Harker said: "If there are no major changes in the trend of inflation in the upcoming data release, I think it is appropriate to maintain at current levels for some time and let some uncertainties resolve themselves."
