The SEC handled 30% fewer cryptocurrency enforcement cases in 2024 than in 2023
A study by Cornerstone Research found that under the leadership of Gary Gensler, the SEC handled 30% fewer cryptocurrency enforcement cases in 2024 than in 2023. However, under Gensler's anti-fraud policy, both the number of cases and the amount of fines far exceeded those during Jay Clayton's term from 2017 to 2020.
