The Mayor of Vancouver proposes to use Bitcoin to combat inflation
Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim urged the city council to explore integrating Bitcoin into the municipal financial strategy, emphasizing the potential of cryptocurrency to enhance financial stability in turbulent legal markets. At a city council meeting on December 11, Sim proposed a motion titled "Maintaining City's Purchasing Power through Financial Reserve Diversification - Becoming a Bitcoin-Friendly City". He believes that Bitcoin has established a "good reputation" in its 16 years of development and can serve as protection against inflation and currency depreciation.
