Trump: There is currently no plan to ask Powell to resign from his position as Chairman of the Federal Reserve
On December 8, U.S. President-elect Donald Trump stated on the NBC program "Meet with Kristen Welker" that he would not attempt to replace Federal Reserve Chairman Powell after taking office in January next year. When asked if he would seek to replace Powell, Trump told Welker: "No, I don't think so." "I think if I tell him, he will (resign). But if I ask him (to resign), he probably won't."
