U.S. Government Efficiency Department: U.S. tax law urgently needs to be simplified
The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) issued a statement on X stating: "In 1955, the U.S. tax code was less than 1.5 million words long. Today, it has exceeded 16 million words. Due to this complexity, Americans spend a total of 6.5 billion hours each year preparing and filing taxes. This urgently needs to be simplified."
