The U.S. general election may present an "additional election", where Congress will elect the President and Vice President
This US election has been full of historic events, but an even more "dramatic" scenario could occur: if no one wins 270 electoral votes, it will trigger a "contingent election", where the Congress elects the President and Vice President. Although this situation has never occurred in modern elections, there are still several possibilities under the Electoral College system that Trump and Harris could tie at 269 electoral votes. If so, Congress will elect a new President and Vice President according to established procedures.
