Decentralized Storage Protocol Walrus Launches Public Test Network
On October 17th, decentralized storage network Walrus Protocol launched its public testnet. Walrus' public testnet and its testnet token, WAL, are served by Sui as the orchestration layer. sui provides Walrus with a dedicated management architecture for storing its global state and metadata, offering fast consensus, composability, and the opportunity to integrate storage into smart contracts on Sui.
The Walrus protocol stores and transfers large data files from any web2 or web3-based source, including media content, audio files, videos, images, PDFs, and more. These large files, called blobs, are stored quickly and efficiently by Walrus, and their storage is resilient, scalable, programmable, and secure.
