The New York Department of Financial Services (DFS) has announced a job opening for a Virtual Currency Senior Blockchain Analytics Analyst, aiming to enhance efforts in fighting financial crimes in the digital currency space.

The position will focus on detecting illegal activities, such as money laundering and fraud, through the use of blockchain analytics tools, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.

The analyst's responsibilities will include monitoring transactions involving DFS-regulated virtual currency licensees, tracing onchain activities to assess risk, and enhancing the department’s financial crime monitoring.

They will also investigate potential violations, such as sanctions breaches and fraudulent schemes, while providing critical insights to DFS leadership.

The ideal candidate is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of both current and emerging blockchain technologies, along with a familiarity with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws.

The role will also involve identifying areas where the department can strengthen its virtual currency unit’s capabilities in tracking and monitoring blockchain-related risks.

With a starting salary of $84,156 and the potential to reach $106,454, the position is based in either Albany or New York City.

Applicants must have at least three years of experience in evaluating financial crime risks.

Applications for this position must be submitted by October 14, 2024, with candidates required to send their resumes and cover letters to the DFS Office of Human Resources.
