Vitalik's $1 million ETH transfer sparks Railgun privacy debate

Bitget2024/08/20 01:57

On Monday, Vitalik once again transferred over one million dollars to Railgun. This project is an Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) privacy protocol that uses Zero-Knowledge (ZK) encryption technology, allowing private use of DeFi and smart contracts. Vitalik's recent transfer has reignited the debate on privacy, with some wondering why Railgun "is okay" while Tornado Cash "is not good". To address this issue, Bill, CEO of the MetaMask seed phrase recovery team and a contributor to Railgun clarified some misunderstandings about the privacy protocol. As explained by X, Railgun should not be referred to as a mixer because it is not a mixer. Instead, it is a "privacy-providing address system", which works like other wallets where private keys control tokens.
