OneCoin founder Ruja Ignatova's assets frozen by British court
On August 7th, the UK High Court issued a worldwide freezing order against Ruja Ignatova, also known as "Crypto Queen," and several of her accomplices suspected of involvement in the OneCoin scheme.More than 400 victims of the OneCoin collapse joined together to petition the court to freeze the assets of Ignatova, OneCoin co-founders Sebastian Greenwood, Christopher Hamilton, and Robert MacDonald, who are suspected of helping OneCoin launder money, as well as the assets of four social media influencers who promoted OneCoin to the public. In addition, commercial entities used by Ignatova for money laundering and purchasing OneCoin assets have also been subjected to global asset freezes. It is reported that Ruja Ignatova defrauded investors through an obvious $4 billion Ponzi scheme from the establishment of Onecoin in 2014 until the project collapsed and Ignatova disappeared in 2017. The Crypto Queen was last seen in Athens, Greece in 2017 and has not been seen since, prompting the FBI to include her on the list of top 10 most wanted criminals.
