StarkNet handling fees dropped by 99%: Cancun upgrade is not the main reason
According to Wu Shuo, LXDAO 0xSam’s research shows that StarkNet’s handling fees dropped by 99% after EIP-4844. However, the Cancun upgrade’s reduction in DA fees is only an auxiliary reason, as it cannot explain the two orders of magnitude decrease. A more reasonable explanation is that StarkNet did charge users more fees before the Cancun upgrade. After StarkNet released the token, the treasury had other sources of income and no longer had to rely entirely on fees to generate revenue, so the L2 Gas Price benchmark was significantly lowered.
