75 American legislators support the CBDC Anti-Surveillance Bill
US Congressman Tom Emmer said that 75 legislators have supported his proposed "CBDC Anti-Surveillance State Act" aimed at protecting the financial privacy rights of Americans. Emmer emphasized that unlike decentralized cryptocurrencies, central bank digital currency (CBDC) is a digital form of sovereign currency designed, issued, and transacted on a government-controlled digital ledger. If not designed to mimic cash, CBDC could potentially enable the US federal government to monitor and restrict transactions by Americans.
