Reuters: US SEC says December 29th is the deadline for updating Bitcoin spot ETF application documents
On December 24th, according to sources cited by Reuters, officials from the U.S. SEC met with representatives from at least seven issuers who hope to launch Bitcoin spot ETFs in early 2024 and told at least two companies to submit final changes before the end of 2024. According to public memoranda and two insiders, the SEC will decide on January 10th whether to approve or reject the joint proposal by ARK and 21 Shares. Most issuers expect that the SEC may approve multiple applications a few days before the deadline.
The executives of the two companies that met with regulatory agencies stated that due to confidentiality discussions, the SEC set December 29th as the final deadline for updating documents. Issuers who fail to complete their submissions before this deadline will not be included in the list of potential approved Bitcoin spot ETFs in early January.
