Report: More than 68.45% of the total supply of BTC has not moved for more than a year
According to a report from Bitfinex, more than 68.45% of the total supply, or 13.27 million of the 19.4 million existing BTC, has not moved in more than a year. This growth trend strongly suggests that attitudes toward bitcoin ownership are changing, and another important indicator underscoring the long-term accumulation trend is that the number of addresses holding 1 BTC surpassed the 1 million mark this week. The data suggests that these investors have been gradually accumulating since mid-2021, and that the upward trajectory of 1-BTC wallets has barely reversed significantly since then. This trend became more pronounced in 2022 as the market plummeted, resulting in a 20% increase in this group.
Bitfinex reiterates its previous analysis that Bitcoin may be in the early stages of a bull market, and despite the current market downturn, long-term Bitcoin holders have not been deterred. The increasing trend in long-term holdings, combined with the rise of whales and the benefits of increased transaction fees for miners, paint a picture of a resilient bitcoin ecosystem.
