What Is Bitget SOL (BGSOL)?
Bitget SOL, or BGSOL, is a liquid staking token (LST) introduced by Bitget in collaboration with Solayer. First announced in August 2024, BGSOL is designed to provide Solana (SOL) holders with a more flexible alternative to traditional staking. Normally, staking SOL requires users to lock their tokens for a fixed period, preventing them from trading or using their assets. BGSOL eliminates this limitation by allowing users to stake SOL while maintaining liquidity. Stakers receive BGSOL tokens, which represent their staked SOL and continue to earn staking rewards. This model aligns with a broader industry trend where exchanges offer liquid staking solutions to encourage network security participation without restricting asset access.
How Bitget SOL Works
BGSOL functions as a tokenized version of staked SOL, allowing users to stake SOL on Bitget and receive BGSOL tokens in return. These tokens maintain value over time and increase as staking rewards accumulate. Unlike traditional staking, where funds remain locked, BGSOL remains tradable and can be used in DeFi applications, lending platforms, and liquidity pools. The conversion rate between BGSOL and SOL updates every 2–3 days, reflecting the compounded staking rewards. Users can also redeem BGSOL back into SOL at any time, though the process may take up to 4 days depending on network conditions. This system provides staking rewards, flexibility, and DeFi integration, making BGSOL an alternative to traditional staking methods.
