Ethereum Foundation dAI team releases 2026 roadmap, stating that ERC-8004 and x402 are gradually emerging
Jinse Finance reported that Davide Crapis, head of the EF dAI Team, published an article revealing that the decentralized artificial intelligence (dAI) team has released its 2026 roadmap, aiming to establish Ethereum as the global decentralized settlement and coordination infrastructure for artificial intelligence. The team stated that AI systems are gaining control over funds, data, and physical actions, making trust, proof of origin, and verifiability the bottlenecks for secure adoption. If Ethereum does not lead the development, closed platforms or centralized entities will control the emerging AI economy. The article mentioned that ERC-8004 and x402 are gradually emerging as neutral standards for agent commerce, and during the three months from August to November 2025, the dAI team has made significant progress. The released ERC-8004 standard is used to standardize agent identity, reputation, and cryptographic verification. Currently, more than 150 projects are built based on this standard, with a builder community of over 1,000 members, making it the most closely followed formal improvement proposal on the Ethereum Magicians forum in the past year. In addition, the team has contributed the x402 protocol, which supports authenticated paid network requests.
